History

Belgian Shepherds come in four types: Laekenois, Groenendael, Tervuren, and Malinois, with the Laekenois being the least common. Each type has unique fur that differs in color, feel, and length. The noble appearance of the Laekenois is linked to Queen Henrietta of Belgium, who loved this breed. These dogs are known for their strong work ethic, guarding sheep and even laundry drying in the fields. During both World Wars, they served as messenger dogs.
Ideal Owner

Active people who love to stay fit will appreciate having a dog that can keep up with their energy levels—one that could even take part in dog sports if allowed. Consider the Belgian Laekenois as the scholars of dogs—they have a huge desire and ability to learn, making them ideal for owners who can provide the right challenges.
