History

The Tervuren dog is one of the four types of Belgian Shepherds and is most similar to the black Groenendael. At first, all these dogs were seen as one breed, differing only in their coat colors. But in the early 1900s, they were divided into separate breeds based on their fur types. The Tervuren, recognized for its red, fawn, or gray fur with black highlights, became its own breed. Traditionally, these dogs were used for herding and protecting animals. The Tervuren is smart and self-reliant, making it a great companion.
Ideal Owner

The perfect owner for a Tervuren is someone who is energetic, smart, and calm. They truly value what a dog needs both mentally and physically and are dedicated to creating an engaging atmosphere. An ideal owner has experience with lively, clever breeds and knows how crucial it is to socialize the Belgian Shepherd Tervuren early and to provide steady guidance.
